Inner Beauty Winner of The Month Goes To...

Ms. Demi Lovato

I know what your thinking?... (didn't this chick just get out of rehab)... YES... why yes she did. She had a personal issue and she handled it. Rumors are going around that she had an eating disorder and was allegedly cutting herself. She checked into rehab late October (yes it has been a while) However, now she is, "getting back to her regular routine and spending time with her family and close friends. She is so grateful to all of her fans for their support, and looks forward to being able to talk to all of them very soon. Demi will continue to focus first and foremost on her well-being." You go Demi.

Now let me explain why Demi is our Inner Beauty winner. Often we forget that the people we see on T.V have real lives. Their personal problems don't mean very much to us. However Demi took the time to show the world that she puts herself before the fame. She took a 3 month break from her Disney show "Sonny With a Chance". She had to admit to the world she was one of those "Disney Stars Gone Wild" (~~Miley Cyrus~~). Instead of hiding her problems she let EVERYONE know she was dealing with things. Now she's on the right track and I believe in her 100%. Also, how can anyone blame her for having issues anyway. I go nuts when I lose my favorite earrings, can you imagine having your own T.V show? With all the pressures and boy problems! I would have been in rehab since day one! So Demi, you rock! We love you!

Btw - She was always my favorite anyway ;)

Classic 80's Horror Films

Well. As the cable goes out, and the snow piles up - there's really only one thing for me to do. WATCH 80's CLASSIC HORROR FLICKS. :D... trust me - this is not as lame as it sounds. Over the past two days I have watched Child's Play (Chuckie), the Shining, and Poltergeist. There is just something about the horrible graphics that draws me in! Today, you cant watch a horror film without having nightmares and personal problems for weeks. Whereas old films scare you - but you leave the movie with some dignity left.

My favorite out of these three movies is Child's Play. Hands Down. Chuckie is the greatest little demented creature ever created, (coming in close second - Hannah Montana). While the Shining was also very demented, 2 hours of watching Jack Nicholson go crazy, can get kind of boring. Plus the movie takes place in a snowy secluded place in the winter, (sounds too much like my house). Poltergeist - Ahhhh good stuff. It's innocent horror. I went the whole movie without seeing one person's guts get dragged out of their eye sockets. :) Gotta love the old times. Go check these out!

PS - Netflix has all three on instant!

PSS - I'm starting a petition on "Saw". If we don't stop the madness now, we will be on Saw 23 before we know it. I think we've seen enough overly elaborate murders to get the point.

Skins generation 3

UK Skins (real Skins) starts today, January 27th, and I'm REALLY excited. So excited that I can only explain through caps. UK Skins is one of my favorite shows ever and I watch a lot of tv. Skins is definitely in my top five. My friends think I'm a weirdo/loser/creep because I always bring it up in conversation and they don't know what I'm talking about. Like I'm really obsessed and should probably seek professional help with my addiction to Skins. Anyways, UK Skins has been on since 2007 and is a really popular show in the UK. They recently made an American version, but that's not what we're talking about here. Today will bring in a new Skins generation, the third to be exact. Each character will have their own episode that will basically introduce them and then also an episode that will be for every character(either the first or last episode). IThey have the same worries and struggles and troubles like any other teenager and its really fascinating to watch because it's so relatable sometimes. Because I live in the US, I obviously (and unfortunately) can't watch it on tv, so I'll be watching it on either a live feed, on youtube, or another website for videos. My Love, Sean Malto

. Introducing.... SEAN MALTO. Although it may not look like it, Sean is 21 years old! (He looks really good for his age.) Besides the obvious reasons to love him - lets take a deeper look. Sean Malto is a professional Skater and he currently lives in Kansas City. (which he vehemently represents) At the young age of 21, he is already sponsored by Gatorade and has his own shoe! He had been featured in Allure magazine, and was catapulted into the spotlight last year. Not to mention, he is the best skater alive. (in my opinion)

Best Coast - Boyfriend

Bethany Consentino's lyrics are simple and sweet and they kind of remind me of both 90s romantic comedies and a girl's diary. Her vocals are just mesmerizing! She sings lead and does lead guitar, Bobb Bruno does bass and Ali Koehler, formerly from Vivian Girls (other awesome band), plays drums. And although I think the east coast is the best coast, they are one of my favorite bands and I listen to them everyday. And they make me want to go to the beach and be happy.

Wavves - King of The Beach

Awesome-wonderful noise band that consists mostly of Nathan Williams. His songs are really random, but really cool and like they're really funny. He recorded his latest record with Billy Hayes on drums and Stephen Pope on bass, but since Novemeber 2010 has played with new drummer Jacob Cooper. He had a slight breakdown in 2009 while on tour, but he's made a tremendous comeback! Wavves makes me wanna party and go crazy.

The Plasticines - Barcelona

They're an all-girl band from France, but they sing mostly in english. Katty Besnard sings and plays guitar, Marina Nuelly also plays guitar, Louise Basilien plays bass, and Anoushka Vandevyvere plays drums. They have really up-beat song about everything. They spin life in such a fun and cute and adorable life that I sometimes wish my life was like a Plasticines song; they make me want to go on a bike ride around Paris and drink starbucks. I found them two years ago when I found Nylon magazine which was seriously one of the of best things that ever happened to me. They were on Gossip Girl I think this season or last season and I felt like a proud mama.

I've been listening to them for awhile. They consist of Chuck Inglish and Sir Mikey Rocks and they're my favorite rap group from this generation..yep. They just make me feel sad because more people should know about them and they don't and because sucky-terrible "rappers" are considered better than them and obviously they are NOT. They're from Illinois & Michigan. They rap about everything like girls, haters, working, partying and being cooler than you and sometimes nothing like...popcorn or 1988. But trust me its always quality.

Omg, do I love her and her deep vocals. I've known her for a lonnng time, about five years. But I didn't listen to her until around three years ago. She used to be a DJ, but now she sings and she's just so awesome and cool. Also she's from DC which adds cool points, because she represents well. Her songs make me wanna dance. Her live band consists of Josh Elrod on drums, Eben D'Amico on lead guitar, and Ian Fenger on bass. Her last record, Self-Taught Learner was even re-released with a bunch of awesome covers. I'm very much so anticipating some new material from her, hopefully soon.

Fountain Girl Sues!

Cathy Cruz Marrero, 49 years old, other wise known as "Fountain Girl", is suing! Earlier this month, a video of her falling into a fountain at Berkshire mall went viral. In the words of her attorney, “We are troubled by the fact that anyone at the Berkshire Mall responsible for releasing this video would find humor in an employee injured on the premises. We intend to hold the appropriate persons responsible. No one from that security office came to her aid in a timely manner.”

First of all, the original video was so grainy, that no one could tell who you were! Now that you put yourself in the media, we can REALLY have a good laugh. Second, since when is it the security guards fault that someone trips and falls. Their job description tells them to protect people from criminals, not water fountains. Cathy was not injured, but claims, "she could have been".

My advice, don't wait for security guards to protect you from obstacles in the mall. Just put away your cell phone, and open your eyes.... ~~and change your hair~~.

Skins Controversey

   Just watch this trailer for MTV's new series "Skins"... I bet you already know what we're thinking over here at American Minor - a bit much? I know that teens typically act up and ~~very often~~ occasionally do stupid things, but WOW. These teens deserve to be in a correctional facility. After just the first airing of Skins this Monday, the controversy over this show has hit the New York times. Many executives and parents claim that it is illegal to show underage minors engaging in these sorts of acts. Executives at MTV have already ordered cuts to later episodes, taking out much of the disputed scenes.
   However, this raises more questions, are children affected by shows like this? Some would argue, yes; a child spends a majority of his or her day watching T.V. If they are flooded with teens acting stupid, they could get ideas. Others (like myself) are a bit more skeptical. I agree that Skins is highly inappropriate, but I believe that any damage done by the show will be done from other sources. Season 3 of Jersey Shore got its highest ratings this month; bringing in over 5 million viewers. Jersey Shore is just as inappropriate as Skins, it shows young people drinking, smoking, and doing other (to remain unnamed) acts.
   MTV in general needs to be more responsible. We cannot control what teens watch, but we can control what is available for them to watch. Seeing people act nuts may be extremely entertaining, but keep in mind - its a show. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.

And Who Might This Fellow Be?

Roses are red, violets are blue, we all knew Ke$ha was psycho, now her dad is too.

Okay. I'll admit, that was my sick little poem above. But it goes perfectly with this picture. There are so many things wrong here - where to begin. First and foremost, this is a picture of the young "We R Who We R" singer, Ke$sha. Needless to say, this is just further evidence she used to be a human. Complete with braces, and "AWKWARD" tatooed all over her face, the young singer is standing by her father, Bob Chamberlain. However, Ke$sha has made it very clear in the past that she had no idea who her father was.... (ahhh the plot thickens) Apparently, Chamberlain has letters and pictures to prove that he has known and had contact with Ke$sha until she was 19 years old.

In my humble opinion, I believe that Ke$sha clearly just has father issues. For whatever personal reasons, she decided to keep him out of her life, and we should all respect that. On a lighter note, can we please focus on Ke$sha's facial expression in this picture! Classic. She's either going to Disneyland or getting kidnapped.

Rihanna's Much Improved Hair

Not gonna lie, Rihanna has been taking some major risks lately. I applaud her courage, but I still think her stylist missed a few important days of cosmetology school. Her fire truck red hair was not looking too hot. However to my delight, Rihanna is back to her beautiful locks. She is now rocking the much more lovely ~~human~~ maroon hair. Personally I love it, I may just copy her :)

Just Why Did Taylor Swift Go Back to December?

Is Taylor Swift's "Back to December" song about our favorite werewolf?? (Taylor Lautner, for all you people that live under rocks) Personally, I believe so. Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift dated for three months in 2009, until she dumped him mid-December! Taylor Swift explains, "Whether good or bad, or an apology, the person I wrote this song about deserves this. This is about a person who was incredible to me, just perfect to me in our relationship, and I was really careless with him. This is a song full of words that I would say to him."

She writes in the song...

"I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile, so good to me, so right

Maybe this is wishful thinking

Hello - NO ONE'S SKIN IS AS TAN AS TAYLOR LAUTNER'S. The evidence is clear, its him. So this brings us to the bigger question - why would she dump him? I would give a kidney, and eyeball, and my dog just to meet Taylor Lautner! Sounds like she has serious issues... or maybe... she cried so hard after the VMA incident, that she went blind. Because no one could look into those ~~abs~~ eyes and turn him away.

You Tube FAIL

At Berkshire Mall, a girl was obviously having a crucial text conversation... She tripped right into the fountain. If that's not bad enough, the video was posted by security guards who replayed the video from various embarrassing angles! The girl, ~~who must have bumped her head too hard,~~ got right back up and continued texting! haha... "walk it off, walk if off" (Mean Girls - Tiny Fey Voice)
